Mario Montore

Mario Montore is the creator and founder of the Avos Project - International School of Music in Rome, today one of the most important Italian academies, a meeting point for the world's best musicians. Winner of over forty solo competitions, he achieved international notoriety for his intense activity as a chamber musician with the Avos Quartet, formed in 2007, with which he won the ‘Gui’ Prize in Florence and the ‘Trio di Trieste’ Prize in 2009, obtaining the Audience Award and the ‘Amedeo Baldovino’ Prize for the best performance of a work by J. Brahms. Again with the Avos Quartet, he was awarded the ‘Diploma of Honour’ from the Accademia Chigiana in Siena in 2010. Born in 1985, he graduated with distinction and honourable mention at the Conservatory of Cosenza. In 2003, he moved to Rome where he graduated, again with honours, from the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, obtaining the Guarino Prize as best graduate of the year. Fundamental to his piano training were the maestros Orazio Maione, Fausto Di Cesare and Joaquim Achucarro, while for chamber music he followed the courses of the Trio di Trieste and the Alban Berg Quartet for several years, with whom he obtained a Master's degree at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne. He has performed for the most important Italian concert seasons (Accademia di Santa Cecilia, Società del Quartetto di Milano, Lingotto di Torino, Bologna Festival, Accademia Filarmonica Romana, IUC-Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti, Filarmonica di Trento, Teatro Comunale di Firenze, Teatro Verdi di Trieste, Teatro Coccia di Novara, Teatro Mancinelli di Orvieto, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Amici della Musica di Verona, Amici della Musica di Modena, Cervo Festival, Teatro Savoia di Campobasso, Teatro Rendano di Cosenza, Filarmonica di Messina, Amici della Musica di Trapani, etc.). ) performing several tours abroad (Germany, France, Spain, Scotland, Switzerland, Holland, Romania, Japan, Arab Emirates, Argentina, Greece). In addition to favouring the experience of sharing the stage with his students, accompanying them on the difficult but fascinating path towards professionalism, he has had the opportunity to perform with artists of the calibre of Franz Bartolomey, Brannon Cho, Carlo Parazzoli, Ilya Grubert, Josef Spacek, Marco Rizzi, Alessandro Carbonare, Andrea Oliva, Fabien Thouand, Ian Bostridge, Mariangela Sicilia, Daniela Dessì, Fabio Armiliato, Isabel Charisius, Danusha Waskiewicz, Luca Ranieri. He collaborates regularly with Mirei Yamada, Alessio Pianelli, Andrea Obiso and the soprano Sylvia Schwartz. In addition, with David Romano and Diego Romano he founded the TTR Piano Trio, to popularise the music of composer Ezio Bosso. He is a guest lecturer at major universities in South America where he holds masterclasses every year, awarding scholarships and enabling young talents to study in Italy. He has been an Afam teacher since 2011. He has taught piano at the Conservatorio ‘S. Cecilia’ in Rome and Chamber Music at the Conservatories of Modena, Terni, Foggia and Cosenza. He is currently a permanent professor of Chamber Music at the Conservatorio ‘A.Boito’ in Parma. Since 2019, he has been an invited professor at the Second Level Master's Degree Course in ‘Theory and Practice of Ensemble Music Education’ organised by the Department of Education Sciences of the University of Roma Tre in agreement with Avos Project
