Curriculum Vitae

Giacomo Grava studied Cello at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Enrico Bronzi. He specialized with the Altenberg Trio Wien, Mario Brunello and the Trio di Trieste; he attended masterclasses by David Geringas, Troels Svane, Antonio Meneses, Vladimir Perlin, Frans Helmerson. Graduated with honors in Baroque Cello at the Cesena Conservatory, he specialized in this field with Anner Bylsma and Mate Balazs. He cooperates with the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Teatro Comunale of Bologna, the Chamber Orchestra of Mantua, the RAI National Symphony Orchestra and as Principal Cello with the Teatro Massimo of Palermo, the European Union Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, the Teatro Regio of Parma, the Orchestra of the International Festival of Brescia and Bergamo, the Abruzzese Symphony Institution. He has been member of the Mozart Orchestra founded and directed by Claudio Abbado, and worked with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Lorin Maazel, Riccardo Muti, Daniele Gatti. Cellist of the Lunaire Piano Trio, with whom he has played throughout Europe, in the chamber music field he has worked with artists such as Bruno Canino, Danusha Waskiewicz, Ivan Rabaglia, Enrico Bronzi, Laura Marzadori, Maria Grazia Bellocchio, Pablo Ferragan, Alessandro Deljavan. After having taught Violoncello at the Conservatories of Gallarate, Cuneo, Vibo Valentia and Bolzano, he holds the Chair of Cello at the "Arrigo Boito" Conservatory of Parma. He has recorded for Deutsche Grammophone, Harmonia Mundi, Amadeus, Da Vinci Classics.
