Paola Camurri
Curriculum:
Born in Reggio Emilia, she graduated in 1984. From 1985 to 1989, she was part of the activities of the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana as a Flutist and Piccolo player, performing both in Italy and abroad under the guidance of renowned conductors such as Inbal, Muti, Soudant, and others. Subsequently, she held the position of Principal Flute in the Camerata Musicale Orchestra of the “Verdi” Theatre in Pisa. In 1997, she won the Piccolo audition at “Teatro alla Scala” in Milan, marking the beginning of a collaboration that continues today with both the Orchestra of “Teatro alla Scala” and the “Filarmonica della Scala”. In 1990 she won the position of First Flute with the Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese; Qualified in the competition for Flute and Piccolo at “Teatro Regio” in Turin in 1998. In 2000, she qualified in the competition for the position of First Flute, with the Orchestra of the “Arena di Verona”. In 2004, she was the first qualified in the Flute and Piccolo audition at the Orchestra of the Arena di Verona. In 2009, she was the second qualified in the Piccolo competition at the “Teatro San Carlo” in Naples. In 2010, she qualified for the Piccolo audition at “Teatro alla Scala” in Milan. In 2011, she was a finalist in the Piccolo competition at “Teatro alla Scala” in Milan. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with the following Theatres and Orchestras: “Teatro Comunale di Bologna” (Principal Flute), “Teatro La Fenice” in Venice (Principal Flute), “Teatro Regio” in Turin, “Teatro San Carlo” in Naples, RAI Orchestras in Milan and Turin, “Filarmonica di Udine” (Principal Flute), “Orchestra Toscanini” of Parma, “I Pomeriggi Musicali” of Milan, Orchestra of “Teatro Regio di Parma”, “Orchestra della Radio Svizzera Italiana”, under the direction of prominent conductors such as: Abbado, Barenboim, Chailly, Ettinger, Gatti, Gergiev, Harding, Luisi, Luisotti, Mariotti, Mehta, Muti, Prêtre, Sinopoli, Temirkanov, and Valčuha. She is also an active concert performer and chamber musician. From 1999 to 2001, she taught Flute at the Istituto Musicale Pareggiato "A. Peri" in Reggio Emilia. From 2009 to 2012, she taught Flute in the pre-academic courses at the “Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali A. Peri" in Reggio Emilia. In 2021, she began teaching Flute at the Conservatorio "S. Giacomantonio" in Cosenza. During the 2021/2022 academic year, she taught Flute at the “Conservatorio Statale A. Scontrino" in Trapani. In the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic years, she teaches Flute at the “Conservatorio Statale G. Martucci" in Salerno. For the 2024/2025 academic year, she will be teaching Flute at the “Conservatorio Arrigo Boito" in Parma.
