Born in Reggio Emilia in 1955, Fabrizio Fanticini studied composition with Armando Gentilucci, graduating in Choral Music Composition and Choir Conducting and later in Composition. He got a specialization degree in Composition with Franco Donatoni at the National Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome.

Its compositions have been performed in Europe, the USA and Russia, in many international festivals and by important symphony orchestras, ensembles and internationally renowned soloists including the National Orchestra of Rai, the Symphonic Orchestra Arturo Toscanini, Quartetto Prometeo, Arditti Quartet, De Ereprijs, Icarus Ensemble, Francesco Dillon, Roberto Fabbriciani, Enzo Porta, Maria Grazia Bellocchio and many others; furthermore several of his compositions have been broadcast by the major European radio stations.

Fourteen his compositions are published by Ricordi editions, after from Taukaj and Berben and some of its are recorded on five published compact discs.

He received awards in international compositions competitions, getting the first prize to the first Concorso internazionale di composizione sinfonica Goffredo Petrassi – Parma 1986 (International jury of 15 composers presided over by Goffredo Petrassi), and Concorso di composizione per l’infanzia Suoni di fiaba – Sarmede (TV) – 1996; mentions to the Concorso di composizione “Pugliatti” Messina -1975, Premio Europa called by the European Commission for the European Year of Music - Roma -1976 (International composer jury including Wolfgang Rihm and Gerard Grisey), Concorso Internazionale di Musica Contemporanea Città di Udine – Udine 2002

Teaching and institutional experience

From 1996 to the present, full professor of Harmony, Conterpoint, Fugue and Composition at the Conservatorio Arrigo Boito in Parma.

In 1979 he was full professor Harmony and analysis at Conservatorio Buzzolla in Adria and, from 1980 to 1996, full professor of Harmony, Conterpoint, Fugue and Composition at the conservatories Rossini in Pesaro, Campiani in Mantova and ISSM Peri in Reggio Emilia.

From 1998 to 2000 he has held the position as Deputy Director of Conservatorio di Musica di Parma.

From 2000 to 2001, he realized a coaching and research project on the sound of vehicles to Ferrari s.p.a. Maranello – Modena – department of Engineering Innovation.

From 2008 to 2015 he has held the position as National Bologna Expert and also from 2011 to 2014 was member of national workgroup of European project EGraConS.

From 2014 to present is national expert and member of the steering committee of the team of the European Project - Consolidating Higher Education Experience of Reform: norms, networks and good practice in Italy/ CHEER – Proj. num. 559273-EPP-1-2014-1-IT-EPPKA3-BOLOGNA.

From 2014 to 2015 was member of the working group in support of the M.I.U.R. for the implementation of the Italian Presidency of the EC for the Bologna Process.

As part of the activity as Bologna Expert he has organized and held a number of reports in the national and local seminars dealing mainly with the aspects relating to the introduction of the Diploma Supplement, the Course Catalogue and research in the AFAM area, insurance and assessment of the quality, of ECTS statistical curves for the conversion of marks between different national rating systems and for the entry of the AFAM system in the AlmaLaurea Consortium.

He collaborated in the organization of festivals and concert events.

Since 2011 he holds an advanced course of summer composition in Forio d'Ischia (Ischia Musica)
